FAQs
What is osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a hands on form of treatment that works on the principle that if the body is functioning properly it will not only be able to heal itself but will be much less likely to develop future pain and problems. Osteopaths work with the body not only to facilitate the healing process but to improve vitality, energy levels and overall wellness.
What will happen at my first appointment?
To begin with your osteopath will have to take a thorough case history which will involve asking you questions about your current symptoms, medical history and lifestyle which maybe relevant to your condition.
If appropriate your osteopath will then perform an examination which may involve you performing certain movements so your osteopath can form an accurate diagnosis of your problem. Once a diagnosis has been made your osteopath can formulate a treatment plan which usually involves some hands on manipulation followed by advice on stretching/exercise rehabilitation.
The initial consultation usually lasts 45 minutes but can last up to an hour depending on your problem. Follow up treatments are 30 minutes.
